Unique V. Day Gift Ideas

Apparently I haven't been in the isles of Wal-mart, or any other public space for that matter, because I just realized that Valentine's Day is in a week. A WEEK people! What happened to January? Wasn't yesterday New Years? So for the procrastinators, here are some last minute V. Day gift ideas.

Other People's Love Letters, Edited by Bill Shapiro
I gave the fiancé Post Secret last year, this one seems even more juicy. Make it personal by adding your own love letter for your hunny to find. With Post Secret, I made the fiancé a pre-stamped postcard using scrapbook materials and left a space for him to write his own "secret" and mail it in. :)

Cooking Classes
Learn something new together and heat up the kitchen! Many high-end grocery stores offer cooking classes and some have themes like "Romantic Night In."

Hidden Message Collar Stays{Red Envelope}
Why settle for tucking love notes in his briefcase when you can deliver a message of love from much closer range? There's a "Racy" version and a "PG" version with phrases like "You make me laugh" and "That tie will be useful."

Personalized Pop Art Portraits
I love this idea. It's a modern twist to the standard I-took-a-picture-and-framed-it gift. You can turn any picture into a piece of art! They also do some pretty cute ones of pets.

Custom Tailored Shirt
{J. Hilburn}
Usually a custom shirt can run you upwards of $300. J. Hilburn offers tailored apparel at much lower prices. It doesn't cost much more than a store bought dress shirt and will fit perfectly. You also get to pick the style of collar, cuff, pockets, pleats, fabric, etc.

Monogrammed Cuff Links
Cufflinks are the finishing touch to a man's formal wardrobe and there's something about a monogram that indicates refinement and good taste.

And What's Valentine's Day without Tiffany's
Enough said.

For the Love of Paper

I love stationary. Letterpress or flat. Classic or modern. I love it all. But like most Dallas girls, I have expensive taste. On my wish list... custom Kate Spade letterpress social stationary. And it's been proven that letterpress business cards win more free lunches... I also think stationary makes a great gift. But before you break the bank giving out custom letterpress, think about making it yourself. You can download free fonts on the internet and then just buy some card stock. If you're not a fan of plain white, you could also buy fancy envelopes to match. I did this for Christmas presents this past year. I designed mine in Photoshop but you could also use any word processing software. Here are just a few...

The engagement party invitations I wanted were close to $15 each, so I designed them myself for closer to 15 cents. I did the same with the Save the Date cards. But those haven't gone out yet so I'm going to leave you hanging. :) Here is the engagement party invite (quite obviously censored.)
